This piece is my interpretation of downtown Chicago, created entirely from shredded money and resin—nothing more. I reconstructed the cityscape using fragments of currency, turning symbols of financial power into architectural forms. Every building, bridge, and reflection in the river is made from the remains of banknotes, repurposed into something visual and symbolic.
The Chicago River flows through the center, layered with strips of blue-tinted currency, echoing both movement and liquidity. Above, the sky swirls with expressive strokes of shredded bills suspended in resin, suggesting unseen economic forces that hover over the city.
Liquid Capital (Chicago) reflects on how cities like Chicago are shaped by money—built with it, driven by it, and ultimately dependent on it. By using shredded currency, I invite the viewer to question value: What is it worth once it’s destroyed? And what new meaning can it hold when transformed into art?
